Correction and Retraction
Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi takes its responsibility to preserve the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record very seriously. All corrections and retractions are handled following best practices in academic publishing, guided by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards. Any change to published articles is made transparently and permanently linked to the original publication.
1. Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum)
A Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) is issued when a published article contains errors or omissions that affect its accuracy but do not invalidate its findings or conclusions.
-
Erratum refers to mistakes introduced by the journal during the publication process.
-
Corrigendum refers to errors made by the authors.
In both cases:
-
The original article remains available and unchanged.
-
A separate correction notice is published, clearly describing the nature of the correction and its location within the article.
-
The correction notice is freely accessible and linked directly to the original paper.
-
If the correction affects the scientific interpretation, this will be explicitly stated.
2. Retraction
A Retraction is issued when there is clear evidence that the findings of an article are unreliable due to:
-
Research misconduct (e.g., data fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism);
-
Honest error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental mistake);
-
Redundant publication or duplicate submission without proper acknowledgment;
-
Ethical violations in research involving human or animal subjects.
Retractions are published as a formal notice that the article should not be considered part of the academic record.
-
The original article is not removed from the journal website but is clearly marked as “Retracted.”
-
A retraction notice explains the reasons for retraction and identifies who initiated the action (author, editor, or publisher).
-
All retraction notices are freely available and linked to the original publication.
-
If all authors do not agree on the retraction, this disagreement will be noted in the notice.
3. Publisher’s Note
A Publisher’s Note is issued by the editorial office of Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi in cases where minor typographical or production errors affect the metadata (title, author names, affiliations, etc.) or cause confusion for readers.
-
The corrected version replaces the previous version, with a clear note of the correction date.
-
Minor edits that do not affect scientific content or understanding may be corrected silently at the publisher’s discretion.
-
Corrections or replacements can only occur within one year of the article’s publication date; beyond that, only a Publisher’s Note will be issued.
Through these mechanisms, Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi ensures transparency, accuracy, and ethical responsibility in maintaining the scholarly record of community service research and publications.
