Editorial Publishing Process
The Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi implements a rigorous editorial and publishing process to ensure the publication of high-quality, ethical, and impactful community service research articles. Each submitted manuscript undergoes several systematic stages as described below.
1. Submission Stage
Authors must submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system.
All submissions must comply with the Author Guidelines and use the official journal template.
Manuscripts that do not meet the formatting or scope requirements will be returned to the authors for correction before entering the review stage.
2. Initial Editorial Screening
The Editorial Team conducts an initial evaluation to ensure that each manuscript:
-
Fits the aims and scope of the Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi,
-
Meets publication ethics and research integrity standards,
-
Is complete in structure (title, abstract, keywords, tables, figures, references), and
-
Passes the plagiarism screening using reliable detection software (maximum similarity threshold: 20%).
Manuscripts that fail to meet these basic requirements may be declined without external review or returned for revision before review.
3. Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are subjected to a double-blind peer review process by at least two reviewers who are experts in the relevant field of community engagement, education, health, environment, or socio-economic development.
Reviewers evaluate the scientific validity, originality, methodology, and social contribution of the manuscript.
The possible review outcomes are:
-
Accept without revision,
-
Accept with minor revisions,
-
Reconsider after major revisions, or
-
Reject.
The standard review duration is 4–6 weeks, depending on the reviewer’s availability and feedback.
4. Revision and Resubmission
Authors are required to respond to all reviewer comments carefully and revise their manuscripts within the given time (usually 14–21 days).
A response letter must be submitted along with the revised version, detailing how each comment has been addressed.
Depending on the extent of the revision, the manuscript may be re-evaluated by the same reviewers or by the editors.
5. Editorial Decision
After considering the reviewers’ recommendations and assessing the revisions, the Editor-in-Chief—in consultation with the Editorial Board—makes the final decision regarding acceptance, further revision, or rejection.
All editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s focus.
6. Copyediting and Proofreading
Accepted manuscripts are professionally copyedited for grammar, clarity, and consistency with the journal’s style guidelines.
Authors will receive proofs for review before final publication and must verify that all corrections have been accurately implemented.
7. Layout and Publication
After copyediting and proofreading, the article is formatted according to the Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi layout style.
The journal is published twice a year (biannually) and provides open access to all published articles under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
Each article is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to ensure global accessibility and citation tracking.
8. Post-Publication and Ethical Compliance
Once published, all articles remain permanently available on the journal’s website.
If post-publication issues arise (e.g., ethical violations, plagiarism, or factual errors), the editorial team will follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines to issue corrections, retractions, or editorial notes as necessary.
9. Archiving and Digital Preservation
To guarantee long-term preservation and accessibility, Jurnal Pengabdian Siliwangi utilizes the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems, and institutional repositories managed by LPPM Universitas Siliwangi.
10. Transparency and Communication
All communication regarding submission status, review results, and editorial decisions is conducted exclusively through the OJS platform or the official journal email.
The editorial office encourages transparent, respectful, and professional communication among editors, authors, and reviewers throughout the publication process.
